The industrial-scale winery was founded by Robert Heuser in 1875. A number of large tunnel vaults situated between Wildbadstraße and Teichweg support commercial premises at ground level.
At the turn of the last century his sons Robert and Rudolf expanded the business with son-in-law Ewald Hannesen.
The photograph shows the new premises dating from 1911, which featured 31 cement and glass tanks with a capacity of approximately 260 tuns.
The technology of lining cement tanks with glass was first introduced to Traben-Trarbach by the Swiss company Borsari & Cie.
These days the business of their descendants focuses on the production of sparkling wine a la méthode champegnoise and bottling Trarbach spring water.
