The ancestors of this long-established winery were granted their family coat-of-arms back in 1661 for serving as reeves to the lords of the manor.
In the generations which followed, the family not only ran a semi-commercial wine-growing business but also a profitable tannery on Grabenstraße on the banks of the Kautenbach. Only at the turn of the twentieth century did the family dedicate itself solely to wine production.
It was winery founder Friedrich Storck who erected new premises in 1928 featuring economical flat pre-stressed concrete roofs. Beneath are two cellar sections, in which the wine is matured in both traditional wooden tun casks and modern stainless steel tanks.
From the maturation cellars a doorway leads through to a comparatively low and small vaulted cellar beneath the company’s former headquarters. This is mainly used as a bottle store. Several decades ago an additional supporting pillar was installed to secure the vaulted ceiling. Here it’s easy to appreciate the difficult working conditions of former times.
