In March 1913 Carl Dinkel Jr. submitted a planning permission application for the construction of a new building on his plot of land "Flur 8 im Bungert..." between the villa belonging to Johann Wilhelm Huesgen and the dwelling of Mrs Mathilde Haack on the Mosel shipyard.
In terms of construction history, the vaulted cellar located beneath it is one of a group of wine cellars situated directly on the riverbank for easing of loading into ships (capacity 40 tuns of cask wine and 10 tuns of bottled wine).
Owing to the dimensions of the site, this wine cellar demonstrates unusually narrow vaulting.
Join in one of our tours to find out the exact dimensions of the barrel vault and just how the wine barrels were secured against the risk of flooding.
